Bloomin' Yankee - a list by hanahula

Options for This Page

About this list:

Although I do have English (and Irish and Scotch and Welsh) blood coursing through my veins, I was born and bred in the USA. A Yankee for most of my life, I only ventured south of the Mason-Dixon line to attend college in North Carolina. While I have more than a bit of Anglophilia, I cherish my American roots. I've been to Plymouth Rock. I vote. I sing the "Star Spangled Banner" at baseball games. I am, in short, a Blooming Yankee. Proud of it. Here's my ode to the Red, White and Blue.

Dollars to Donuts
Updated Oct 8, 2008
When the value of a dollar comes close to that of a donut, drastic measures are necessary. Here's how to spend the little mad money you do have today.
So Short A Season
Updated Oct 5, 2008
While the professional baseball season continues throughout more than a half of any given year and you can catch a game on any night of the week, football has a much less face time. Perhaps that is a good thing for the players' bodies, but it can be a bit frustrating for those die-hard fans who wait all week for the one game their team will play. The season is short enough to keep the fans hungry. Very hungry.
Delish

If you have a sweet tooth as big as mine, you will savor these carefully selected savories. Of course, you might also want to indulge in one or two. Some "real food" recipes and drink recommendations mixed in for good measure.
Game, Set and Match
Updated Oct 8, 2008
Professional tennis, much like professional golf, is played year-round, with players following the warm weather from Australia to France to Wimbledon to the USA with oodles of smaller tournaments in between. And while some may think that watching tennis is akin to watching the grass grow on the court, I love nearly everything about the game, its etiquette, dress code and larger-than-life player personalities.
World Tee Party
Updated Oct 8, 2008
We all struggle to express ourselves, to be heard and, more importantly, to be understood. It's human. It's universal. Particularly in my lifetime, the humble tee shirt has become a way to personalize our message. More recently, it's become a way to support a cause or proclaim our affiliations. Fighting Aids in Africa. Professing our undying love for a particular band. Battling against bigotry. Reviving the art of Andy Warhol. We all seem to know the language of the tee.
